Stories from the Road: VaxXed Bus Tour Day 1
Everywhere we go, we meet the most beautiful people! ❤️
Keeping a daily log of our travels with the VaxXed Bus Downunder is something I’ve wanted to do since we started the tours but, with one thing or another, I’ve never quite gotten there.
Last night, after a 5 AM start and not getting home until about 8:30 PM, I sat down on the couch in the bus to write this and…fell asleep. I woke up at 10:30 and went to bed LOL
So here we are, on the bus, driving to Newcastle via Port Macquarie where we will be meeting the Port crew for lunch before heading out to, what we’ve been told will be a rainy, potentially cyclonic and flooding Newcastle. Such is life.
Newcastle put on a similar show the last time we were there too. C’mon guys! Twice in a row is twice too often!
It’s been one of those years though, hasn’t it? Floods, pestilence, famine. When we get to locusts and frogs, it’s time to start asking questions…
But back to yesterday!
We stayed for 2 nights with the parents of one of our long-time Coffs Harbour members. You would not want to have a more gracious or kinder pair of hosts, but this has been our experience all along the way.
And yesterday, we were parked at the Coffs Harbour Jetty where we spoke with a lot of people and took several stories, most of which did not live stream due to Facebook problems. Again, when I have good internet, I will upload the rest of the stories.
One of the amazing people I spoke with had come from far away to meet the bus. They used to work for the ambulance service but had to leave because they refused the jab. The Western town where they live has approximately 900 people in residence and they said that in general, there would be one call-out a day. Since the COVID jabs started to be administered, however, there are dozens of call-outs a week and a large percentage of them were due to heart attacks and chest pains including in the youngest people there.
They have worked out that in the last 18 months, 1 person in 25 has had to call for help from the ambulance and the overall increase in ambulance calls was 40%! Nothing to see here…keep moving.
Another person watched their beloved husband, who really did not want to take the jab but did so to keep his job, sicken within a matter of days and die within months as a result. He knew that it was the jab but nobody else in their family - all of whom had willingly been jabbed - would accept or even talk about that connection so she was left feeling very much alone at such a difficult time!
Then there was Cleo whose story was very different to what we normally hear. Cleo is a transgender woman who believes that the vaccinated and unvaccinated in the trans community are intentionally being divided over this issue (sound familiar? It’s the same in all communities right now). She is a deeply religious person whose beliefs have been shaken by this experience and her open, warm attitude has made her friends wherever she has travelled regardless of vaccination status. She just wishes that all communities could unite for the common goal of freedom and human rights.
I have to say that our beautiful bus is testing our feet before the fire. We have had many issues with it and Cleo, who is an electrical engineer, helped us out with an issue we were having regarding our batteries being drained and refused to take any payment for it. These are the kinds of people we’re running into on the road!
My retirement
For those who haven’t been following this, I have submitted my letter of resignation from the AVN Committee - the organisation I founded nearly 29 years ago! I’m reaching an age where I want to spend more time with my own family and to travel a bit and maybe even relax from time to time (crazy, I know! 🤭) We are also going to be moving shortly and for a pack-rat who has lived in the same house for nearly 27 years, the idea of downsizing and packing everything up can be a wee bit daunting!
Anyway, we had a huge number of helpers at the beach - many of whom were there all day! Shout out to Jacqui who was absolutely essential for the smooth running of our event.
Unbeknownst to me, the local group had gotten together and written me a beautiful card and presented me with a lovely gift too. Very unexpected but I am really grateful.
It’s rather bittersweet to be leaving the AVN which has held such a big part of my life and my heart for so many years. But it’s lovely knowing that it is in good hands and I will really enjoy these next 2 tours - my last two - before my resignation becomes official in the New Year!
The good part is that I will be continuing to produce Under the Wire as well as having more time to write for this Substack which I really love to do!
The tour continues…
As I said, we are heading for Port Macquarie and then Newcastle. It’s not too late to book in to share a story or meet the team for tomorrow. To book in, click one of the links below and select your time. And if you want to meet up at any of the other locations, you can do that in the same place.

Beautiful people, attract beautiful people. A change of pace and place are well deserved by you Meryl. Your dedication to getting the truth out there, and your heart for helping others is both admired and inspiring to so many. Thank you.....Hope your last two tours bless your socks off!
It was a pleasure volunteering for the day.
Thank you so much to you (and all other volunteers) for making this important task happen. The vaccine injured need to be heard and acknowledged, thank you AVN for giving us a voice.
Meryl, your tireless efforts over the years are awe inspiring. You were a source of information and comfort for me after vaccine injury, when all mainstream medicine offered me was a shrug off the shoulders. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
