Former MP George Christensen warns us of a sinister bill which, if passed, will see people who post things the government doesn't like jailed for 3 years!
Just like the proposed federal mis and dis-information legislation which so many of you posted submissions in opposition to, Queensland is also jumping on the wagon to shut down the right for anyone in that State (or, apparently anywhere in the country?) to say things that aren’t ‘government approved’.
You see, the Queensland Parliament is about to vote on the proposed Criminal Code (Serious Vilification and Hate Crimes) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023, which, if it passes, could see Australians face up to three years in jail for posting anything the government deems as “offensive” on social media that is visible in Queensland.
It's not just about Queensland; this draft law impacts everyone in Australia!
CitizenGo has installed a Billboard in one of the busiest intersections in Brisbane to educate people about this issue and is asking for donations to keep it up for as long as possible.
They also have a petition which they are asking everyone to sign and share in opposition to the proposed legislation.
It's crucial that we act swiftly, as the parliamentary vote on this bad bill could take place within just days.
Every day we have this billboard up, more and more people will drive by and see the warning, and become informed and inspired to take action.
If enough people sign our petition at www.SaveFreeSpeech.com.au then we may just be able to spook the politicians who are pushing this bad bill into dropping it altogether.
If you can sign and share, that would be great. And if you are in a position to help with a donation to this campaign, you can do so at this link.
Australia needs to get rid of this cancerous govt and asap. His way or no way - out with him the fool that he is and his cron ies with him
This QLD proposal is a parallel to the Federal misinformation and disinformation Bill. Both Bills are e signed to shut down democratic exchange of information contrary to Magna Carta. It can only mean that certain politicians are concerned their past sins will catch up with them. I also observe that the Federal Bill was composed (they say) by Facebook.(?)
