The immaturity of those who oppose free choice
There are many comments I get on this blog from the so-called SAVNers (Stop the AVN) which I don't approve because - well, to put it mildly - they are abusive, illogical and use language that I don't feel progresses the debate in any way. Today on the AVN email discussion list (click here to join - just send a blank email from the account you would like subscribed), one of our very articulate and well-informed posters sent the following piece of advice. I think that those from SAVN should really take this information to heart. We want a debate - not diatribe and not abuse. So SAVN - grow up! Be Mature When You Express Yourself I don't take people seriously when they rant, rave, swear, cuss, insult, deride, mock, or get stubborn. These are immature attitudes that prevent and hinder the expression process. Here is a rule of thumb. If they are willing to talk about others behind their back, they will do it to you too. Let's stay away from the unproductive gossip, the insults, the profanity, and the finger pointing. These accomplish nothing. Think about it, when is the last time you actually made a situation better by swearing at someone? Maturity in conversation is thoughtfulness, consideration, and the willingness to listen. Show respect to others and they will respect you" Perhaps I should provide a couple of examples of the immature posts (I won't put any that use improper language here) that I'm speaking of so the SAVNers can learn from their mistakes:
Hahahahahahahahha
“Researcher”, hahahahhahaha.
Good riddance to you.
You see, this comment makes no point, makes no sense and is incredibly immature. Perhaps it was sent by a 15 year old high school student - but I think that's not the case, sadly.
Congratulations on your imminent departure Meryl. This will save many children from needless suffering and possible death, and hopefully bring some of your well meaning but ignorant supporters to their senses.
AVN supporters are far from ignorant and just because we disagree with SAVN is no reason for their supporters to call us that. In fact, I have personally issued a challenge for several years now to any medical doctor, government health official or immunologist to debate me in public with an independent moderator on the subject of the safety and effectiveness of vaccinations. To date, none has accepted this challenge. If you are so sure we are ignorant, what is the problem?
So SAVN - grow up, debate respectfully and show us your evidence. It's time to stop sniping and start communicating.
Oh, and communication is still free in Australia - if you can't defend your unsubstantiated opinions, don't try to step on our rights to present our referenced information - it won't work and only makes you look really bad.
