The story continues…
Yesterday, an article was posted on this blog concerning threatening phone calls that had been made to the home of their President, Meryl Dorey, in August of this year. Today, the story will continue with further information about the possible perpetrator, the response of the authorities and why it is we are asking people to listen to the recordings (“Die in a Fire” and “Just burn“) and inform us if they can recognise the voice of the person making these calls or provide any further information.
Before contacting the police, Ms Dorey searched for information on the phone number the calls originated from and was able to establish that they had been made from the home of one of the managers of the Stop the AVN Facebook page. This is a person who had previously made indirect threats against her life and who had maintained a campaign of direct harassment for over 3 years!
Mr and Ms Dorey were both away from home, in Bathurst at the time. Their teenage children were home alone and the Doreys were most concerned about their safety.
Ms Dorey called the police and 2 officers responded within a short time. They listened to the recordings and took a complete report of both the history of abuse from this individual and the fact that there were only 2 people living in this home – one man and one woman. It was assumed that since these calls came in the middle of the night and the voice was definitely male, there was a good chance that the man who lived there was the person who had phoned.
The suspect was interviewed a couple of weeks ago and had already consulted with an attorney before the police turned up at his door. He refused to make any comment about these calls and also refused to admit to having made them though he did not offer any alternative explanation for why someone had used a phone in his house in the middle of the night to make threatening calls to Ms Dorey.
If anyone reading this has any further information on this case or can identify the voice of the person on the attached recordings, it may be very helpful in getting charges brought against the person responsible for these calls. The AVN would be grateful for any assistance you could possibly give.
Interestingly enough, two individuals posted links to yesterday’s article from this blog to the Facebook page of Stop the AVN (SAVN). Both individuals, one of whom stated they had been a member of that page for over 9 months, were immediately banned and the article links removed. If SAVN would like to be considered a legitimate organisation rather then a hate group, it should stop trying to suppress information about the dirty deeds committed by its managers and start holding those who threaten innocent people accountable for their actions.
If the SAVN Committee or the Australian Skeptics know anything about these calls, what did they know and when did they know it?
