The QLD thought police want you in jail if you oppose government policies

This is what happens when tyrants are given virtually unlimited power due to fake emergency declarations

According to the Daily Mail, people in Queensland can soon face 3 years in jail for making an ‘offensive’ post on Facebook.

There is no definition of offensive nor who will decide what is or is not offensive, though the author of the article is attempting to draw a line between this legislation and risk to certain religious minorities such as Hindus.

Queensland's Labor government has introduced a bill that would dramatically increase the maximum prison sentence for racist, anti-gay, anti-trans or seriously bigoted statements.

Let’s look at what the dictionary definition of bigotry actually is.

the fact of having and expressing strong, unreasonable beliefs and disliking other people who have different beliefs or a different way of life: (Cambridge English Dictionary)

And the American Merriam-Webster dictionary, defines it thusly:

obstinate or intolerant devotion to one's own opinions and prejudices : the state of mind of a bigot

Looking back at the actions of the entire QLD Labor government over this last 3 1/2 years, I would say that they are the true bigots whose dislike for those with different opinions translated into overt discrimination and segregation in the most bigoted of manners!

Inflammatory Facebook posts would be a criminal offence with the legislation covering 'any form of communication to the public, including by speaking, writing, printing, displaying notices, broadcasting, telecasting, screening or playing of tapes or other recorded material, or by electronic means'.

Inflammatory according to whom? Who will be making these decisions? And how would the accused be able to defend themselves when the goalposts can shift at the whims of those in Meta working with the government in power?

This is why Freedom of Speech was enshrined in the very first amendment to the US Constitution and why we here in Australia seriously need a Bill or Statement of rights. To protect us against the rogue governments now in power.

That said, there are several High Court decisions protecting the right to freedom of political speech, but like in Danistan and McGowan-ville, laws don’t seem to get a look-in when there is an ‘emergency’ on.

And much as the pollies are trying to paint this as a ‘reasonable’ attempt to stop all those Nazis in the community from displaying Swastikas on their FaceBook pages (I didn’t even know that Nazis were a problem in Australia - did you?) it is obvious that this proposed legislation is yet another attempt at total control of everyone.

It is the death of a thousand cuts.

• It’s just a mask.

• It’s just social distancing.

• It’s just a PCR test.

• It’s just not being able to see your dying loved ones.

• It’s just not being able to legally protest against tyranny.

• It’s just being forced to choose between your income and your health.

• It’s just not being able to get an education.

• It’s just not being able to speak or write in a public forum without fear of arrest.

Do you see where this is headed? Do you see why we can’t relax when it comes to our rights?
